The faculty, staff, and students of Philippine Science High School-Ilocos Region Campus (PSHS-IRC) support the nationwide call to end violence against women (VAW).

Various information, education, and communication (IECs) materials containing pertinent information on VAW were posted on conspicuous places all over the campus.

“It is a saddening reality that we are still faced with such issues related to violence committed against women and even their children. Thus, it is important that, as an institution, we take part in intensifying the cause of this campaign even in our own little ways. It is our moral obligation to do so,” said Dr. Ronnalee N. Orteza, Campus Director.

With the theme “End VAW Now! It’s Our Duty!: Gains and Ways Forward,” the 18-day campaign is observed annually from November 25 to December 12.

According to the Philippine Commission on Women website, the objective of this annual event is to increase awareness among all stakeholders that VAW is a national concern. It supports the Philippine Government’s goal to guard the human rights of women and its commitment to addressing all forms of VAW.
